Knowing him
|
Step One – Know Who Jesus Is
|
| |
Jesus is God. No one created Jesus He always existed. Jesus is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere. He was there in the beginning when the heavens and earth were created. He created all things, both in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, dominions, rulers or authorities - all things have been created through Him and for Him. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the 2nd person in the triune existence of God. Jesus is before all things and in Him, all things hold together.

|
| |
Jesus made the biggest sacrifice. How? God created Adam and Eve, the 1st man and woman, in His image. They were to be prosperous and live holy lives by not going against God’s rules. But they decided to go against God’s rules. By default, since then, all people are sinners because sin entered the earth through Adam. As God can’t associate with sin, for He is always Holy, His wrath came upon all people and they were condemned to die because of their sins. In order for people to be free from eternal death (hell), people had to be brought very close with God. The only way for that was to bridge the gap between people and God. As God cannot look at sin, there was nothing on earth that could bridge that gap. So Jesus in heaven humiliated Himself by being born as Man on earth. He humbled himself to become like one of His own creations. He chose to become a Man to help us in an extremely important way. |
| |
|
| |
About 2000 yrs ago, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of a virgin woman. He is Christ (the Messiah), meaning, that He is the Savior who came to deliver people. He became Son of Man that we might become sons of God. For our sake, He exchanged a kingly robe for a carpenter’s gown. He was rich but for our sakes He became poor. He rode on another person’s donkey and was buried in another person’s grave.
|
| |
|
| |
History has never known such as Jesus. In infancy Jesus startled a king, as a boy He stunned the theologians with His knowledge and wisdom for He was taught of God. In manhood He ruled the elements and quieted the raging seas. He healed without medicine by touching lepers, by speaking to the sick and fed 1000s of people from a boy’s lunch. He did miracles and walked on water. Every demon obeyed Him and He raised people from the dead. |
| |
|
| |
Yet He suffered the anger of God against the sin of the whole human race. He was despised and rejected of men. Though He was innocent and without sin for He knew no sin, He was condemned by a judge and sentenced to death on a cross. By His suffering and death, He paid completely for the sins of all who believe in Him. He sets free all who believe on Him from God’s judgment and condemnation.
|
| |
|
| |
Jesus Christ lives on, though many leaders, prophets, gurus, saints and great people have come and gone. Herod the king couldn’t stop Him. Death couldn’t stop Him. The grave couldn’t hold Him. He conquered death and rose on the 3rd day as He said He would. |
| |
|
| |
After showing Himself to the disciples, He ascended into heaven. He now sits at the right hand of the throne of Father God Almighty where He pleads or intercedes for our cause to His Father. He defends us, keeps us safe from all enemies, and pours out His gifts upon His followers. |
| |
|
| |
One day He will return not as a suffering servant but with power and glory to judge the world. Then every knee shall bow to Him and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. His followers will confess His name with joy and confidence. But His enemies will be in terror and they’ll seek to hide from His face. Jesus Christ is the Perfect One. He is Holy and loves all people. |
Step Two – Know His Love
|
| |
Yes, God loves all people. He loves you too. He is holy, and He demands that you too must be holy. But if you sin, you’re destined to die which is its penalty. However, His love provides a way for people to be saved from this punishment. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. How is this possible? Someone was willing to suffer what you deserved. Your substitute had to be a sinless man, able to suffer the full wrath of God against your sin. His love was revealed through Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for YOUR freedom and rose from the dead. When Christ died He conquered death so that you can have eternal life. This is your free gift of salvation. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, the gift of salvation is yours, then you can know with certainty where you will spend eternity (in heaven). |
| |
|
| Step Three - Believe |
| |
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on Him” (John 3:36). |
| |
|
| |
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). On the cross He took all your sins upon Himself. He loved you so much that He was willing to die such a painful and agonizing death. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
|
| |
|
| |
On the cross Jesus crushed the head of Satan and his hold on God’s people. So, if you believe in Jesus Christ, you will be victorious. |
| |
|
Step Four - Repent (Turn Away From Your Sins)
|
| |
“In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). |
| |
|
| |
God’s salvation causes a spiritual transformation that takes place in the life of the repentant sinner. It’s a change that takes place by the Holy Spirit of God who enters into your life, converting your attitude, character and helping to grow within you a devotion to live a righteous life for God. If you turn away from your past sins by asking God for forgiveness and sincerely apologizing, God in turn will forgive and forget. God’s salvation not only includes the forgiveness of sins that you’ve committed, it also includes the reality that He forgets those past sins, never to remember them or bring them up to you ever again. “...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Jesus as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood” (Romans 3:23-25). |
| |
Also, if you turn away from your current sins, God will help you remove those sins from your life, so that you are no longer motivated or controlled by them. You are not saved “in” your sins but you are saved “from” them. “Jesus Christ gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own; eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:13 – 14). |
| |
|
Step Five - Receive
|
| |
| |
“Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). |
| |
The free gift of salvation which includes forgiveness and eternal life cannot be yours unless you willingly accept it and believe in Jesus Christ by faith. God requires an individual response from you. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). If you are ready to receive this gift, your question now must be - how do I receive it? |
|
Step Six - Confess
|
| |
| |
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). |
Dear God, I acknowledge my sins and need Your forgiveness. Be merciful unto me O God. I believe You sent Jesus Christ for me. That He shed His precious Blood for me. That He was buried and rose from the dead on the 3rdday. O God, wash me with Jesus’ Blood to give me new life. By faith, I receive you Jesus as my Lord and Savior. God I pray that your presence come into my heart. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to serve you for the rest of my life. Thank you for hearing my prayer. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen. |

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
|
| |
| You must confess your sins to God and ask His presence to come and dwell in your heart. Here is a suggested prayer that will help guide you to pray aloud using your own words. |
